Every memorable yacht begins the same way: as an idea on paper. Yacht concept design is the earliest and most important phase of a custom project — the stage where character, proportion and emotion are decided, long before engineering locks anything in place. This is how a concept travels from a first sketch to a photorealistic render.
Why the concept phase matters most
The concept sets the DNA of the whole vessel. Get it right and everything downstream — exterior, interior, engineering — has a clear idea to serve. Get it wrong and no amount of technical excellence will make the boat desirable. This is why we begin with the concept rather than the hull, and why we treat it as the phase that deserves the most creative attention.
Step 1 — The hand sketch
We start with an an actual hand-drawn sketch, not a CAD model. The pencil captures the tension and emotion of a line in a way schematic modelling cannot, and that first drawing becomes the reference for everything that follows.
Step 2 — Silhouette and proportion
The sketch is refined into a resolved exterior silhouette: the stance on the water, the balance from bow to stern, the relationship between decks. This is where the vessel earns its identity.
Step 3 — Volume and interior intent
In parallel we establish how the vessel will be lived in — the broad interior logic and zones — so the outside and inside are conceived as one idea rather than negotiated later.
Step 4 — From concept to render
Finally the concept is developed in 3D and taken to photorealistic renders that show the yacht on the water before it exists. These are not just pretty pictures: they are the concept made persuasive, and they are what sells the vessel on the stand and in the brochure.
