“I don’t assemble yachts — I compose them.”

The Yacht Artist
Every yacht begins as a work of art.
A creative yacht design studio led by a single artistic vision — shaping the exterior sculpture and interior soul of yachts meant to be fallen in love with.
The studio
At DRAFTXL, design is authorship — not assembly.
Most studios promise everything: exterior, interior, naval architecture, engineering. I made a different choice. DRAFTXL specialises in the creative half of yacht design — the artistic exterior and interior that give a yacht its character and its emotion.
For each yacht’s type and purpose, I bring together the best naval architects and engineers — chosen specifically for that project — to realise the vision without compromise.
“A yacht is not a product to be assembled — it is a work of art to be composed.”
Andrzej Starużyk — Artist & Design Director
What I design
Exterior sculpture
Profiles and proportions that feel inevitable from every angle — a form that reads as one confident gesture on the water.
Interior atmosphere
Spaces designed around light, material and feeling, so a yacht is as moving to stand inside as it is to see.
Concept sketches
Hand-drawn concepts where a yacht’s soul is decided — the honest first language of every project.
“Imagination should run ahead of technology — engineering then catches up to the vision.”
Andrzej Starużyk — Artist & Design Director
Philosophy
Imagination runs ahead of technology.
I begin every project with a pencil. A concept sketch is where the soul of a yacht is decided, long before any render. I hold on to that hand-drawn honesty through the whole process — from the first line, to three-dimensional development, to the finished design.
Technology should serve the vision, never limit it, and set the direction for engineering to follow.

“Every yacht should get under your skin the way a painting does — and stay there.”
Andrzej Starużyk — Artist & Design Director

Andrzej Starużyk
Artist & Design Director
Andrzej Starużyk is the artist and creative voice behind DRAFTXL. Trained in yacht and transport design in Coventry and in architecture at the Silesian University of Technology, he has designed yachts from 5 to 68 metres for leading studios in France and the Netherlands before founding his own.
His work treats the exterior as sculpture and the interior as atmosphere, giving both a single, confident design language — so that a yacht feels like one idea rather than a collection of decisions.
“The first pencil line already carries the soul of the whole yacht.”
Andrzej Starużyk — Artist & Design Director
How I work
A studio without walls.
DRAFTXL is built around collaboration. Rather than a fixed in-house department for every discipline, I work with a hand-picked network of naval architects, engineers and shipyards — each chosen for the specific yacht in front of us.
It means every project is realised by specialists who are genuinely right for its type and purpose — while the creative direction stays coherent from the very first sketch through to sea trials.
Let’s create your yacht.
Whether you are an owner with a vision, or a shipyard looking for a distinctive creative partner, I would love to design with you.
